Jindal Stainless Ltd inaugurates a ₹125 crore stainless steel fabrication unit near Mumbai, marking its strategic move from raw material supplier to end-to-end infrastructure solutions provider. Learn how this expansion supports India’s infrastructure growth.

Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL) Expands into Value-Added Infrastructure Solutions with New Fabrication Unit

Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL) has taken a big strategic step into the value-added infrastructure solutions space by inaugurating a new large-scale stainless steel fabrication unit close to Mumbai. The state-of-the-art facility, inaugurated at a cost of ₹125 crore, indicates the firm’s ambition to evolve from raw materials supplier to end-to-end solutions provider for India’s burgeoning infrastructure sector.
Spread over a 4 lakh sq. ft. unit at Patalganga, it would predominantly offer fabricating critical components for bridge construction for JSL’s entry into constructing the nation’s next generation of sustainable and durable infrastructure.

A Keen Leap into Value-Added Solutions

This new business, via JSL’s wholly owned subsidiary Jindal Stainless Steelway Ltd (JSSL), is a definite move further up the value chain. Instead of merely supplying stainless steel, the firm will now be manufacturing pre-installed components like various girder types, which constitute the structural skeleton of bridges.

It also allows more qc and a nice solution for infrastructure builders. As Abhyuday Jindal, MD of JSL, stated,

“With this unit our objective was to incorporate more robust end-to-end quality control, making sure these vital structures are built to precise standards and supporting India’s broader infrastructure push.”

Powering India’s Infrastructure: The Potential to Flourish

The plant is coming online with ambitious growth objectives to address India’s increasing need for quality building material. The plant’s manufacturing capacity will scale rapidly:

  • Current FY25-26: Approximately 4,000 tonnes
  • By FY 2026-27: 18,000 tonnes pa

The expansion also aligns with the government’s his infrastructure drive, where the robustness and low servicing of stainless steel give it an advantage over traditional materials.

Tarun Khulbe, CEO & CFO of the company, highlighted the unique value proposition of the new unit:

“With the launch of this facility, we are bridging that gap, by bringing together material excellence, expert fabrication and simplified processes to provide timely and best-in-class infrastructure solutions,” he added.

Prime Location and a Plan

The site near Mumbai is also very well chosen, placing the plant so close to one of India’s largest economic centers and port infrastructure and thus facilitating reaching projects across the western region.

This unit is not an island unto itself but instead the initial stage in a larger national project. The company has also already revealed plans to extend their fabrication footprint to additional strategic locations in India, demonstrating a forward-looking commitment to being an industry leader across the nation.

At the end of the day, Jindal Stainless’s new fabrication unit is more than a factory — it’s a visionary wager that vertically integrates its company and its business model with India’s national economic aspirations. With the bridges of tomorrow, both literal and figurative, being built by JSL, they are positioning themselves as an indispensable contributor to the country’s rise story.
